Introducing Garcinia Cambogia Extract!

One of the more popular supplements on the market today, which was recommended by the physician and host of the popular television show The Dr. Oz Show in 2012, is the herbal supplement known as garcinia cambogia extract. The extract comes from the rind of a small pumpkin-shaped fruit indigenous to Indonesia, but which is now grown in Southeast Asia, India, and parts of Central and West Africa. In Southeast Asia the garcinia fruit itself is also used in many of the dishes because of its ability to make food feel more filling – this effect is a result of garcinia fruits promotion of serotonin production in the body, which can improve mood and suppress the urge to practice emotional or anxious eating.

How Does the Extract Work?

In addition to its ability to suppress appetite to a certain degree, garcinia cambogia extract can also help you lose weight by acting as a fat blocker. The science behind this effect has to do with the high concentration of hydroxycitric acid (HCA) found in the garcinia’s rind. HCA is an enzyme inhibitor, and can inhibit your body’s ability to breakdown unused carbohydrates to store it as fat. In addition to acting as a natural fat blocker, the HCA found in the extract also discourages the formation of LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins, also known as “bad” cholesterol) and lowers your body’s levels of triglycerides.
